Getting On A Plane... Again.

Well surprise surprise! Or not. I'm unexpectedly getting on a plane again in a couple weeks. We fly a lot. Nevan is relatively used to it. The difference is this time I will be travelling Sydney to SFO with Nevan alone. I've never had to do a flight without Dave's help! The flight itself is about 14 hours (thank god for non-stop flights).

So this is why I'm a little scared... I have to go 14 hours + airport time with Nevan and no help... that means when I have to use the restroom, Nevan comes with. I wish he were a bit older so I could ask a stewardess to watch him for a minute, but I know that because I can't yet rationalize things to Nevan it's not going to fly. Secondly, keeping him entertained. Our flight departs in the afternoon, which means about 5-6 hours will go by before he is going to pass out. I have just about enough battery on the portable DVD player and laptop to occupy him that long, but I know he isn't going to give me the sanity of watching TV for five straight hours (plus, if he even COULD watch it that long I'd be worried!). On top of that, by the time the plane lands he will have only gotten 8 hours sleep, max - that's not enough. I'm just going to have to try to get him to sleep as early as possible.

These are all relatively minor compared to my main concern: luggage claim time. I am going to need this sleep-deprived TODDLER to sit still in his stroller while I get hip checked by people trying to get two inches closer to the luggage carousel. I hate those people. I hate them so much. I'll have a cart with a suitcase, my large carry-on, and his car seat to push while I wrassle his stroller and possibly anxiously whispering "Shush! We're almost done! Please please be a good boy. Oh God don't cry!" while apologetically slipping in "Poor guy didn't get enough sleep on the plane" to strangers watching him have a Chernobyl.

Ahhhhh! Well at least my husband is flying the way home with us.
